This update has several changes. Most noticeably, messages are now displayed in colour. In the user list there is a time field which indicates the local time/clock of the ping. There is now a command to retrieve any user’s profile.

This version has some experimental changes such as allowing the user to set their mood. The client also shows how the location information was obtained. It should be possible now to use the phone’s working GPS functionality if you start up gpsd with ‘gpsd -p /tmp/nmeaNP’ and select GPS at login.

This update depends on the latest Chicken Scheme package and has a fix for a serious callback bug. Remove the previous software with:
ipkg remove thumbtribes-client
ipkg remove chicken-scheme-interpreter
and install the new version with:

This version has a simplified user interface. Instead of using a GTK notebook it splits the user list and messages via a vertical panel. Everything is now visible on one screen. A screenshot is available here.

This is the first version to contain some basic messaging functionality. Note, the user list no longer contains yourself so you need another user connected to test messaging or retrieve a profile.

The previous versions were linked to openmoko-libs which caused some odd dependencies such as requiring libmokoui0, libmokojournal0, libmokogsmd0. After speaking to Thomas Wood at mobileCampLondon at the weekend I found I just need to link to libmokoui2. This should remove those dependencies.

A couple of changes. I added a field for jabber to the profile. I have also now added in some gpsd client functionality. If you select gps at the login prompt it will use gpsd to automatically obtain location. Well it would if gpsd was running on my Neo. Until that works I have coded it to connect to a remote gpsd for testing purposes. New client available:
